Google refines search results

Google has now been updated so your searches can now be more refined. Earlier this week Google updated its interface when you punched in a search queries. Google have given you more options to narrow down your searches so that you get to the information you need quicker and easier.

The previous two-section approach is being phased out and they are making space for a three-section interface, with a left hand column appearing. This column will exhibit a plethora of new choices to help you narrow down your search.

We say new choices; they aren't really as they are inspired by Universal Search, the search options panel and Google Squared. Instead of many of these being hidden on the site they will now be emblazoned alongside your search results to help you make more informed choices. Paid for ads will still be displayed on the right hand side.

The new interface allows you to refine a search by:

  • Type
  • Location
  • Time Frame
  • Choice of different views (Timeline, wonder wheel, Related Searches)

Google said, “The new design refreshes and streamlines the look, feel and functionality of Google, making it easier to pinpoint what you’re looking for. It’s powerful, yet simple.”

Lee Stovin - Leading Yorkshire SEO Consultant said, "This is defiantly an improvement that will help people to find more relevant information to their searches, especially if searches are on specific time frames or if they need the latest news"
